ESTHER EELEENE
Biography
Contemporary artist that like to merge different artistic fields and push boundaries. Esther Eeleene finds inspiration in everyday routine and gestures, people and traditions. What motivates her most is to bring a powerful message or sensation to the viewer, to connect and tell stories and bring the public to a path of imagination and curiosity. She love to dive in other cultures and build bridges that connects her Spanish roots to other parts of the world. This brings a new perspective in all her works, new ways of communication and experiences.
Esther Eeleene has work as a dancer, choreographer, film creator, director, producer, and video editing. She have been selected in Arte Laguna Prize to participate in the exposition with her film Hello, my name is Blue during Biennale Arte 2024. Beside that she have choreographed for the tour 2023 for the company Valencia Dancing Forward, Cita con la Danza 2024, and also carry on her own productions. She also have danced in Biennale Danza under the direction of Wayne McGregor, ITDansa, Visceral Dance Chicago, Unaiuna, VDF, ... Also had the opportunity to work, dance their pieces, and learn from renewed choreographers like Saburo Teshigawara, Akram Khan, Alexander Ekman, Ishan Rustem, Rafael Bonachela, ...
During the year 2023 and 2024 she spent nine months in South Korea exploring the new artistic proposals that are being developed and assimilating the differences with contemporary dance in the West. Also sharing processes of creation and exchange of ideas and search for new styles, learning the Korean language, fusing interpretation with dance and venturing into the philosophy and practice of taekwondo and traditional Korean dance. As a result of these experiences, she created Hello, my name is Blue and Lonely Green Eyes. Also as a concern to collaborate and merge, to understand the same work from different cultures, with different voices and different languages. Eager to share and be free both in the creation of the process and in its interpretation. The work will be show in an exposition and performance in CICA Museum in South Korea this year.
Esther had the opportunity to live in different countries and cities like: Venice, Chicago, Seoul, Valencia, Barcelona, New York, Amsterdam, ... Thanks to that she found herself wanting to not tell just her reality, but get to know different lives and cultures around the world. She gets fascinated how the place change the way of communication, the body language and the manners. Live , and people it self, are the main source of inspiration for her.
